I hope that you read on, OHMS. Even Andrew McLemore, the author of &rlquo;Nuclear Threats” concedes that the Fort Calhoun nuclear power plant incident with which he leads the article did not present an acute danger. The question is, “Are NRC officials power company hacks, or can we trust them to regulate the nuclear power industry?”

“They do have bonuses [for employees] that are based on not making waves,” he said. “So their bonuses are more for delivering a project on time as opposed to raising a safety issue or identifying a problem at a plant.”
OK, so the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is run like a corporation. What's wrong with that, says the CEO of BP?

Totally agree with the last post. US Nuclear has a great safety record. Most of the workers at US nuclear plants are former US Navy Nuclear trained sailors. Like I was. The USN nuclear program is another one with superb safety standing. We need more nuclear plants and less meddling from interveners. If it doesn't have wings or wheels it does not need fossil fuel.

This article is long, but the priorities of our Nuclear Regulatory Commission personnel could be significant.
