Gasoline production increases in California
Thursday, September 04, 2008
Central Valley Business Times -- California’s refineries increased production of clean-burning gasoline meeting the standards of the California Air Resources Board (CARB) last week, the California Energy Commission says.

There were 6,871,000 barrels of “CARB” gasoline made during the week ended Aug. 29, a 9 percent increase over the previous week and a 2.9 percent increase over year-earlier amounts.

Gasoline inventories increased by 1.9 percent over the previous week to 5,415,000 barrels. That is 3.6 percent more than in the comparable week in 2007.

So, do the production increases mean price decreases?...Oh, I guess you already knew the answer to that one.

so, for the moment, there seems to be a surplus... now if they would follow that with researching alternatives, we'd all be better off...

the surplus will only last until people go back to driving like they always have, wasting gasoline and running the prices back up

I agree with AC-302... we need to standardize fuel blends so we noly a few different ones. Even the GAO said the same thing back in '04, but, as usual, nothing has changed.

Boutique gasoline. Bugger! Why don't we get on one all season grade or only two - winter and summer NATIONWIDE? How can that NOT help gas prices to have the same fuels everywhere?

And of course there is no connection to pump prices here because there is no actual oil shortage, and gas goes for 17 cents/gal in Venezuela. True.

week by week is not a good thing to measure. Plus they may be stock piling gas, so they can switch over to winter blends, or shut down for maint.... Just reporting pure numbers without a reason (factual, not reporters thoughts) is kinda worthless.

Super News !!!! keep the price dropping... Lets get some of the oil from Iraq since we put our boys life on the line for it... ???? Makes no sense to me that we go and defend a country that didn't want us too defend them but they sill wanted to get rid of Saddam which we did and what do we have for all this heartache? I live 20 miles from Fayetteville and Fort Bragg and I see tha Families that have to live with there better half over seas during there 2nd and 3rd tour of duty... its all way to ploitical when it should be so very simple.

Maybe the price of gas there will be closer to the national average now.
